Most commonly asked questions:

Do you need to go thru a safety class prior to shooting a USPSA match? Yes, there is
a two part safety requirement prior to shooting in a match. First, you have to fill out the
written portion of the safety test, available thru this link uspsa_safety_manual.pdf, and second you
need to pass the live fire safety session held on the 1st Saturday afternoon of each month (free).
Safety is very important in this sport.

Can juniors participate in this sport and how old do they have to be? Yes, juniors
can shoot in USPSA shooting sports and there is no minimum age requirement. Men,
women and juniors can participate as long as they can safely handle their firearm.

Do you have to be a member of Albany Rifle and Pistol Club or USPSA to
participate in this type of shooting?
No, these competitions are open to members and
non-members of our club and you do not have to be a member of USPSA to shoot in
these matches.

How much does it cost to shoot in a match? Adults, 18 and over, pay $17 per match
and juniors pay $5 per match.

When do they start and how long do they last? They start at 9am and normally last
until 2 or 2:30pm.

How many rounds of ammunition do you shoot? A normal match shoots about 125
rounds of ammunition if you hit every target the first time. Most competitors bring 200
rounds to a match.

Can inexperienced people compete? Yes, everyone has to start at some place when
joining a new shooting sport. All the people who shoot in a match have gone thru the
same learning process to become proficient in this shooting sport. Jump right in and get
involved, don't worry about how well you shoot. People will share all kinds of
knowledge to help you learn faster.
